As a result, It was first case of official reconstruction of the stone fish traps in Okinawa after came back to mainland in 1972. The Conference of conservation of Shiraho coral reef was established by the resident in Shiraho is intended that conservation of the coral reef and sustainable development. In this conference, it aimed for people in the region to touch the sea, and to restore the stone fish traps as a place where children studied the knowledge of traditional life living with coral reef and fish's ecology, etc. Because member of the conference thought that reconstructing of fish traps and succeeding to the method leads to conservation of the coral reef environment and bringing about endogenous development. This reconstruction process had a bunch of very real problems. Through this reconstructing period for 10 months, the project enhanced opportunities that local people take a hard at former culture in local life.
